Frequently asked questions

What is an aspect ratio?

An aspect ratio describes the proportional relationship between width and height. A 16:9 image is 16 units wide for every 9 units high, regardless of its pixel dimensions.

How do I simplify an aspect ratio?

Divide both dimensions by their greatest common divisor. For 1920 × 1080, the greatest common divisor is 120, producing the simplified ratio 16:9.

Can I calculate a missing width or height?

Yes. Choose Find dimension, enter a ratio, select whether you know the width or height, and enter that value. The calculator updates the missing dimension immediately.

Does this calculator round results?

The calculation keeps its unrounded numeric result. For readability, a calculated dimension is displayed with up to six decimal places, and very large values use scientific notation.

Are my dimensions uploaded or saved?

No. Calculations happen in your browser. Entered dimensions are not sent to a server, stored, or included in analytics events.
